MCEDC Community Development Coordinator VISTA Member will continue developing and coordinating volunteer matching services for nonprofit organizations that need volunteer support to achieve their mission. The Member will develop and catalog opportunities for volunteers to help with projects. They will develop and manage communication efforts in the community, while serving low-income individuals, working with groups such as Veteran’s Affairs, several commodity programs, the many assistance programs, Mora 4-H, and primarily, the Mora Arts and Cultural Compound who’ve sponsored and assist in coordinating many programs for youth and seniors.

This project will focus on fueling the technology economy in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. Our (your) overall goal is to improve the quality of live for New Mexicans and their families by developing a tech-savvy workforce and well-trained community of technology employees, entrepreneurs, and innovative technology businesses. You will work with the Community Learning Network, a New Mexico born and based nonprofit dedicated to “building stronger communities through real-life learning.” New Mexico TechWorks VISTA Volunteer will strengthen technology awareness, education, enterprise, and employment in the region, especially underserved, underrepresented, rural, Hispanic and Native American communities in the area.

Las Vegas San Miguel Chamber of Commerce

Pamela A. Martinez joined the Las Vegas San Miguel Chamber of Commerce where she will serve as the Chamber Communications Liaison. She is a native and life-long resident of Las Vegas NM where she is currently partially retired. She worked for 28 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist for both school districts in Las Vegas. She will provide communicative support and contribute towards the development and coordination of the Las Vegas Chamber Leaders’ economic growth initiatives and endeavors for the community and surrounding area. She will assist the Chamber to collaborate, advocate, and with outreach efforts, to create partnerships to sustain new businesses and jobs for low-income persons. Additionally, she will assist the Chamber along with existing area businesses and chamber members to contribute towards and sustain a vibrant and prosperous economic community.
Center for Community Innovation
Raton, NM
The VISTA Member will carry out outreach and marketing intended to increase the involvement of low income persons in adult education classes including high school equivelancy preparation and testing, resume writing, and job interviewing. The VISTA will survey area employers to identify job training and education needed by employers, develop training materials. and help secure sponsors and funding to provide the job training local residents need to prepare for work in available local positions in real time.

Nick will collect data about community needs, prioritize high-impact projects and work with community leaders to turn these materials into a regional economic strategy. He'll action teams to create workplans for projects and develop funding proposals to carry them out.

Tanner is helping people find jobs by working with the SoloWorks program in Grants, NM. He is active with Client Relationship Management (CRM), web development, marketing and outreach, training, community building, and program development activities.

Espanola, NM
The VISTA Member will support development of the County Comprehensive Plan with an emphasis on design and implementation or project in the economic development section of the plan.
Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging
Santa Fe, NM
This project will identify gaps in services and develop an action plan to transform the delivery of health, nutrition and transportation services to low income seniors throughout rural communities in New Mexico.
