VISTA Application Training (continued)

This week’s tip is in continuation of last week’s regarding applications. Once you have vetted and selected an applicant, you need to complete the Sponsor Recommendation tab of the application. Before you move them forward to our office’s approval, you need to make sure you have selected the correct VAD and site for them in addition to making sure they can serve full-time. If the applicant needs to be on a new VAD, that new VAD needs to be approved by our office before you move them forward from the Sponsor Recommendation screen. Our office will also need to know whether the applicant is moving more than 50 miles to determine if they’re eligible for relocation benefits.

Once you recommend and move forward the applicant to our office, we review the applications. In addition, their citizenship status and SSN get verified. We also run the NSOPW check on them. Finally, they’re placed into the VMO.
